When: April 12, 2025
Organizer: Rattler Racing
Location: Lakewood, Bear Creek Lake Park
The annual kick-off to the racing season in the Front Range. This race is different every year due to the volatile spring weather. When it's dry, the course is fast and punchy. A great atmosphere fueled by hundreds of riders, happy to be out of the bike cave and into the light!
When: May 10, 2025
Organizer: Rattler Racing
Location: Castle Rock, Philip S Miller Park
Another early season test. Typically, this race is scheduled close to Cinco de Mayo, a great Pre-Marg activity IMO.
This course is twisty, fast and loose. Be prepared to practice handling skills on flat loose turns.
When: May 24, 2025
Location: Gunnison, Hartman Rocks
Just one of the best courses and events out there. Proper mountain bike course, with many rock formations that keep you entertained for the 32 mile Original Course or the 40 mile Big Bad course.
Post race awards are downtown Gunnison at I.O.O.F Park. Food trucks and local craft beer are brought in to facilitate the refueling. Great afternoon soaking up the sun and maybe stepping onto a podium?
When: June 5 - 8, 2025
Organizer: Colorado Springs Sports Corp
Location: Colorado Springs, Canon City, Cheyenne Canon
Three stage race on what looks like some really fun trails. First time doing this one. Stage one is a time trial, which is different, looking forward to racing against the clock, without the typical starting crowd.
When: June 14, 2025
Organizer: Shift Events
Location: Bailey, CO
100 Kilometer race in the Buffalo Creek trail system. Fantastic day racing on very familiar Buff Creek trails.
When: July 4, 2025
Organizer: Town of Breckenridge
Location: Breckenridge, CO
This 50-mile beast is an annual tradition for me. Climbing Little French, twice (!) is a killer every year, but always fun racing on some amazing singletrack in Breckenridge!
When: July 9, 23, 30 & Aug 6th
Organizer: Highlands Ranch Community Association
Location: Highlands ranch
This 4-race series is hosted by Highland Ranch and despite it being a community race series it is known for its very competitive open field. Racers have to decide if to race sport or go straight to open (there is no expert category). I have opted for middling results in Open.
The courses are very fast and require you to attack the start or risk getting stuck in singletrack with few passing opportunities.
